Marketing Claims Made
COR-Performance Whey Isolate Protein is described as an optimal source of protein when you’re looking to maintain lean muscle, replenish nutrients after a workout, and indulge your sweet tooth guilt-free.
The company further states that for every two scoops of COR-Performance Whey Isolate Protein Powder, you get a whopping 24g of fast-acting whey protein and digestive enzymes.
This serving of potent ingredients can help satisfy your protein needs any time of the day.
The following claims were made about Cellucor COR-Performance:
- Fast-acting protein: Having a fast-acting protein is not clear cut for COR-Performance. That’s because it makes use of two different types of whey protein: Whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate. Between the two, whey protein isolate is the one absorbed the fastest. Whey protein concentrate isn’t considered a fast protein, but it is a fast ingredient compared to other protein sources.
- Digestive enzymes: The presence of protease and lactase tells us the people behind COR-Performance mean it when they say they want to have a fast-acting type of protein. However, enzymes work in ways we sometimes can’t measure. So, it will be up to the person if the protein powder digests and gets absorbed fast or not.
- Minimal fat and carbs: The 3 gram carb serving may be already high for some, especially if they’re following a low-carb or ketogenic diet. However, we do like that it only has 1.5 grams of fat.

- Whey Protein Isolate: When it comes to whey protein, whey protein isolate comes out as the more expensive and more sought after compared to whey protein concentrate. This is because whey protein isolate is 90% protein per gram compared to whey protein concentrate that is only 70%. The difference is due to the “impurities” in whey protein concentrate. Unlike whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate has a reduced cholesterol content, carb, and basically devoid of lactose. This makes whey protein isolate a better whey protein form for those who have trouble with dairy products. And because whey protein isolate is much more pure, it’s also much more efficiently absorbed by the body.
- Whey Protein Concentrate: Whey protein concentrate is the basic form of whey protein. In fact, many users consider whey protein concentrate as raw whey protein. It’s the form right after skim milk is processed for its whey protein content, so it still has high cholesterol, carbs, and of course lactose. Whey protein concentrate is easily manufactured, cheap, and perhaps the most abundant form of whey out in the market today. The problem is, it’s also only available at 70% purity. Not to mention it’s not ideal for those who are sensitive to dairy or prone to digestive problems. However, many say whey protein concentrate tastes better than its expensive counterpart, whey protein isolate.

- Bulk: Protein powders are bought to help the body grow bigger muscles. The science is solid for this one benefit. The more protein you have stored while training, the better muscle growth you’ll have.
- Recovery: Muscle recovery and growth go hand in hand. The more amino acids your body has, the faster recovery will be. Faster recovery leads to bigger gains.
- Performance: While proteins are better known for their bulking properties, they can also have a good effect on overall performance. Whey protein powders are much easier to digest than meat or eggs, making them efficient sources of energy and explosiveness.
Added to those benefits is the presence of digestive enzymes which allow for easier gut digestion and protein breakdown.

Cellucor COR-Performance is the kind of protein powder that could be divisive among long-time users.
On one hand, it carries a tried and tested combination of whey protein forms that are known for their ergogenic and muscle growth benefits. It also contains ingredients that help the overall experience, especially when it comes to better digestion.
On the other, it can appear not as efficient compared to single-ingredient protein powders, the number of fillers it has may not bode well with the general consumer, and we also have the problem with the salt content as well as tub size availability.
