How and When Do I Take It?
As per the manufacturer’s directions you are to mix one scoop of MusclePharm Assault in 8 – 12 oz of water around 30 minutes before your workout.
What are the Benefits?
Looking past the “systems” and “matrices,” and other hyped terms, we can see that there are actually some pretty decent ingredients in Assault.
Substances like creatine and arginine will help to increase your body’s ATP levels to help you last longer through each set, especially when pushing at the upper limits of your strength. The arginine especially helps to dilate your blood vessels to ensure your muscles are receiving all of the nutrients you’re providing your body with.
BCAA is an essential ingredient in any pre-workout supplement as the L-Leucine content helps to activate protein synthesis, thus staving off muscle catabolism and keeping you in a more anabolic state throughout even the most brutal of workouts.
What’s more, the inclusion of nootropic substances like choline and huperzine A will give you the mental clarity and focus you need to make it through your training sessions even after a long day or work or in the throes of extreme dieting.
Are there Any Precautions?
This product caffeine so caution should be exercised prior to use if you are sensitive to stimulants.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking any prescription medications, or you suffer from a pre-existing medical condition such as high or low blood pressure; cardiac arrhythmia; stroke; heart, liver, kidney or thyroid disease; seizure disorder; psychiatric disease; diabetes; difficulty urinating due to prostate enlargement, you are strongly advised to consult your doctor or physician prior to using MusclePharm Assault.

- Blue Raspberry
- Candy Apple
- Fruit Punch
- Lemon Lime
- Pineapple Mango
- Raspberry Lemonade
- Strawberry Margarita
You’ll also find it available in the following serving sizes:
- 3 servings (Variety Pack)
- 20 servings
- 30 servings
- 50 servings
Any pre-workout supplement worth its salt is going to have a decent BCAA content; MusclePharm Assault ticks this box so you can rest assured you’re providing your body with at least the bare essentials to keep catabolism at bay.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again that I really do prefer supplements that don’t contain caffeine because it gives me the freedom and flexibility to add my own caffeine source if I want to.
Personally I prefer to drink a cup of black coffee before my workouts so if I’m getting a large dose of caffeine on top of that then I end up feeling a little jittery and unfocused by the time I hit the gym, so that isn’t such a redeeming quality of Assault in my opinion.
Of course this is highly individualized, so if you’re not too bothered about getting some extra caffeine or skipping your pre-workout coffee then I don’t see this being too much of an issue.
The thing I like most about MusclePharm Assault is that it contains not only the nutrients your body needs to support training but it also includes vasodilators like arginine to ensure those nutrients are being delivered where they can actually be absorbed and utilized.
I also find the taurine and coconut water powder content to be interesting additions as well.
Taurine is very useful at preventing muscle cramps; I’ve always suffered with severe cramping in my calves and even occasionally my quads, so I can definitely attest to the necessity of taurine as part of a pre-workout formula.
The coconut water powder also helps to facilitate adequate hydration and prevent cramps as it provides a range of electrolytes in a natural formulation. I actually lived in Thailand for a couple of years and would drink coconut water on a regular basis, and you wouldn’t believe how much it actually helps with hydration!
Assault is a real concoction of differnet ingredients so I think that MusclePharm has done a great job of covering up the nasty taste of the various substances.
Blue Raspberry and Watermelon are my favorites, but I always go for Watermelon flavors with this kind of supplement so I’m a little biased.
The general consistency of the mixed drink is very dilute and clear, so you can tell that it will go through your gut very easily and with little digestive upset.
Is it Worth the Money?
You’re definitely going to need some kind of pre-workout supplement if you are serious about your training, and if you’re not quite ready to begin putting together your own blend of barebones ingredients then I think that Assault is well worth the money.
The price is very reasonable for what you’re getting, and many of the ingredients would cost far more if you purchased them separately.
Beta Alanine is known for causing a tingling sensation in the skin (don’t worry, this is temporary!) but that doesn’t mean that the product as a whole is somehow going to miraculously transform your body.
While you will find these ingredients in MusclePharm Assault, there are also plenty of other high-quality and high-purity compounds that will also be doing their own jobs behind the scenes, so you’ll very quickly notice an improvement in your training and recovery.
MusclePharm Assault is a world class supplement brought to you by a world class brand, and it definitely receives a very strong recommendation from me!
