Performance Lab Sport T-Booster
Performance Lab Sport T-Booster is a nutritional supplement designed to support healthy testosterone levels in men. It’s intended to support the raw materials involved in testosterone production, T-synthesis signaling, antioxidant defenses, stress resistance and estrogen control, in order to address multiple aspects of healthy testosterone levels.
Testosterone is the main male sex hormone. It’s important for a huge range of functions in the body. Low T levels can cause decreased sex drive, fatigue, and more. On the other hand, healthy testosterone levels can support better athletic performance, improved sex drive and fertility, improved muscle growth, and more.
Many testosterone boosting products make bold claims that aren’t necessarily backed up by science. This product’s ingredients appear to be supported by clinical trials – the guide below will explore the product in more detail.
What Sport T-Booster Claims to Do
Performance Lab Sport T-Booster is designed to support healthy testosterone levels. The manufacturer claims that it can help with:
Healthy testosterone levels
The manufacturer claims that this product can help support a healthy testosterone level.
There is evidence to support this claim. D-aspartic acid, which is included in this product, has a number of effects on testosterone. One study found that men given D-aspartic acid for 90 days reported an increase in testosterone levels of 30-60%. Another study showed an average increase of 42%, after just 12 days of supplementation. However, some men showed no change in testosterone levels, and changes were thought to be temporary.
Mucuna pruriens, another ingredient, appears to have a testosterone boosting effect as well – but only in infertile men. Ashwagandha also may have an effect, with one study finding a 15% increase in testosterone levels in healthy men.
This product claims to help sustain circulating testosterone in the body by countering estrogen and other female hormones, and protecting against stress hormones and free radicals.
There is limited evidence to support this claim. Luteolin appears to suppress aromatase, which is a hormone involved in the biosynthesis of estrogen, the primary female sex hormone. Ashwagandha can fight adrenal fatigue, which can help to manage stress (thereby reducing stress hormones, and theoretically reducing stress-induced testosterone damage). More research is needed for these claims.
What’s In It
One serving of Sport T-Booster (2 capsules) contains:
- 1000mg D-Aspartic acid calcium chelate
- 300mg ashwagandha extract
- 150mg mucuna pruriens extract
- 30mg luteolin (from orange fruit extract)
D-aspartic acid – D-aspartic acid, also known as D-AA, is an amino acid regulator in the testosterone synthesis process. In studies, it’s been shown to notably increase testosterone levels in healthy men, but the effect appears to be temporary.
Ashwagandha extract – Ashwagandha extract is a herb that’s commonly used in Ayurvedic traditional medicine. Studies have shown that ashwagandha can have a positive effect on testosterone levels, but more research is needed.
Mucuna pruriens extract – Mucuna pruriens is a bean that contains high concentrations of L-DOPA. In studies, the plant extract has shown promise in increasing testosterone, sperm motility and fertility in men. More research is needed.
Luteolin – Luteolin is a flavonoid that’s extracted from oranges and some other fruits. It appears to suppress aromatase, which is involved in estrogen biosynthesis. This may have an effect on testosterone levels, but more research is needed.
For Best Results
This product should not be used long-term without the guidance of a medical professional. You should also follow the dosage instructions closely, and never take more than directed.
The manufacturer recommends cycling this product. That means you should take it for a few weeks to a few months, then take a break. You can then begin using it again after a break of several weeks to several months. It should not be taken daily for extended periods of time.
There are many things you can do to increase testosterone naturally. Getting frequent exercise, eating a healthy diet, and minimizing stress can all be beneficial. This product might help, but it’s not a magic fix for boosting testosterone.
Potential Side Effects
We can get an idea of the potential side effects of this product by looking at the side effects for each individual ingredient:
D-aspartic acid can cause changes in cholesterol levels, and elevated levels of liver enzymes and kidney markers.
Ashwagandha extract can cause diarrhea, stomach upset and vomiting. The long-term effects of ashwagandha are not known.
Mucuna pruriens extract can cause nausea, bloating, insomnia, and vomiting.
Luteolin does not typically cause side effects, but reactions are always possible.
In addition to these potential side effects, keep in mind that increasing testosterone can cause side effects of its own. More testosterone in your system can cause acne, increased aggression, and more.
We recommend that you do not take this product without consulting your doctor first.
This is an interesting product that may be worth trying if you have low testosterone. It appears to have a good formula of ingredients, most of which have at least moderate evidence to support the claims made by the manufacturer.
The potential for side effects is moderate. It’s best to start slow and see how it will affect you. Also, remember that this product is designed to be used occasionally, or cycled on and off. You should not take it daily for extended periods of time.
