Prestige Labs is one of the newest brands in the industry. So new, that there’s barely any reviews about their products online. Regardless, they mean business and they want you to know that they produce quality supplements.

One of them is the two-part pre-workout Pre Step 1 and Pre Step 2. We’ve seen our fair share of innovative pre-workouts, but this is the first pair that actually comes in two’s.

Can both Pre Step 1 and Pre Step 2 work efficiently for a strong start and finish at the gym? Let’s check them out.

Who Makes It?

Pre Step 1 and Pre Step 2 are both sold by Prestige Labs [1]. Prestige Labs is a supplement company that, although new and still quite invisible on the internet, they took it upon themselves to be proud to have supplements formulated by PhDs and Olympic athletes.

Marketing Claims Made

Pre Step 1 is described as an advanced pre-workout formula. We’ve seen a lot of pre-workouts to make this claim, so we’ll have to see it to believe it.

Pre Step 2 is described as an advanced workout booster. We’re not exactly sure what they mean by this since a lot of supplements can act as workout boosters, but okay.

The following claims were made about Pre Step 1 and Pre Step 2:

Pre Step 1

  • Increase endurance: Beta-alanine helps to prove this claim, but we also want to see the dosage.
  • Boost motivation and focus: Alpha GPC and N-acetyl L-tyrosine work together to provide the much-needed focus and alertness.
  • More reps: Creatine and citrulline can help propel your gym experience to new heights.

Pre Step 2

  • Endurance: Caffeine does promote energy which can help you ignore fatigue.

What’s In It?

Now, let’s take a closer look at what’s inside Pre Step 1:

  • Vitamin B Complex Blend: A B -Complex may not seem much, but the reality is muscles need B vitamins to fully function and exert the maximum effort. When you lift, the muscles draw on stored B vitamins to exert the right amount of lift for your hard days at the gym [2].

Power Output Blend

  • L-Citrulline: Citrulline is the best ingredient when it comes to muscle pumps because it’s the direct precursor to nitric oxide production [3].
  • Beta-Alanine: Beta-alanine is a credible performance enhancer as well as a recovery booster. It indirectly influences energy by delaying fatigue [4].
  • Creatine HCl: Creatine is considered a staple ingredient for pre-workouts. It’s known for helping with performance, recovery, and endurance [5].
  • Creatine Nitrate: This form of creatine is said to be absorbed easier and helps prevent the bloated side effect [6].
  • Theobromine: This is more of an antioxidant with some heart-healthy benefits. It can hypothetically help with pumps as it promotes vasodilation [7].

Focused Energy Blend

  • Alpha GPC 50%: This is one of the best nootropics in the world. It energizes the brain which then promotes focus [8].
  • Alpha-Amylase: This is an enzyme that should promote proper digestion and absorption of nutrients [9].
  • N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine: N-acetyl L-tyrosine helps support Pre Step 1’s focus and attention benefits [10].
  • Synephrine HCl: This is a potent stimulant that’s often included in fat burners. It’s known to aggressively tweak our thyroid to produce fat-burning hormones [11].

Now, let’s take a closer look at what’s inside Pre Step 2.

  • Caffeine Anhydrous: This is a universal ingredient in most supplements. Caffeine at the dosage of 300 mg is really high, as it is equivalent to up to four cups of coffee [12].

Note: Yes, Prestige Labs dedicated one entire bottle to caffeine pills.

Benefits

The following benefits are to be expected from Pre Step 1:

  • Decent pumps: The presence of citrulline and theobromine help the body produce more nitric oxide which leads to more pumps.
  • Moderate recovery: Creatine is known to facilitate the recovery process right after exercise.
  • Good energy boost: Beta-alanine helps delay fatigue.
  • Good focus: Alpha GPC is a premium choice for focus and attention.

The following benefits are to be expected from Pre Step 2:

  • Solid energy boost: That’s what caffeine does.

Precautions

The side effects of Pre Step 1 and Pre Step 2 will come from three key ingredients: Beta-alanine, creatine, and caffeine.

Beta-alanine is known to induce a condition called paresthesia. This is because the molecules of beta-alanine are large and fluffy, and they often brush against the nerve endings as they circulate throughout your body. This effect is temporary, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Creatine can induce a serious bout of bloating with large enough dosages.

Caffeine at 300 mg can give you the jitters or have you crash after an hour or so of training.

We always recommend you speak with your doctor before taking any supplements featured on this site.

How to Take It

Prestige Labs recommends taking both Pre Step 1 and Pre Step 2 together for best effects.

For Pre Step 1, you should mix 1 scoop of PRE into 8 ounces of a cold beverage. Drink 20 to 30 min prior to workout. Since this product is caffeine-free, they recommend to have it in the morning or evenings, whenever you workout. For competitive athletes, they advise to not dramatically change dosing prior to an athletic performance event. Use the same doses as your normal workouts.

For Pre Step 2, they said it was meant to be used in conjunction with Prestige Labs PRE Step 1. There are also two ways to use this product:

  • Method 1: Standard: Take one cap for an equivalent caffeine dosage of two cups of coffee. This will satisfy most people’s needs.
  • Method 2: Insanity: Take 2 capsules for an equivalent caffeine dose of four cups of coffee. This is for more experienced caffeine users. They do advise to not exceed two capsules in a 24 hour period.

Taste/Flavors

Pre Step 1 comes in Fruit Punch and Blue Raspberry. Pre Step 2 is just a plain capsule, so no flavor is necessary.

Number of Servings

One bottle of Pre Step 1 can provide 15 servings with each serving providing 13 grams. Pre Step 2, on the other hand, has 30 servings for two capsules each.

Customer Feedback

Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any real reviews of both products yet. The most we came across are blogs that promote Prestige Labs, but not these two products in particular.

We also think we wouldn’t be seeing any real reviews any time soon, as these two products are expensive and priced beyond the premium brands with household names in the industry.

Pre Step 2 specifically might not see an audience as it’s just plain caffeine and you can easily get that from a cheaper cup of coffee or bulk ordered bag of caffeine pills off of your favorite online retailer.

Bottom Line

Pre Step 1 and Pre Step 2 were partnered to help users have a great gym experience. The fact that the two were separated was so users can choose whether to feel maximum stimulation or not, allowing users the freedom to take a pre-workout without having to worry about stimulant-related side effects.

The thing is, both Pre Step 1 and Pre Step 2 are absurdly priced, which doesn’t help the fact that Prestige Labs is fairly new to the industry.

As much as we’d want to recommend Pre Step 1 and Pre Step 2, we know very well users will get a similar or better experience with other pre-workouts at a fraction of the price.
