How and When Do I Take It?
As per the manufacturer’s recommendations you are to take one scoop in 8 – 12 oz of cold water approximately 30 minutes before your workout.
To assess your tolerance it is advised that you begin by starting with a half serving due to the caffeine content.
It is also recommended that you avoid using this product less than 3 – 4 hours prior to going to bed.
What are the Suggested Benefits?
The aptly-titled Kill It by Rich Piana’s 5% Nutrition is based on the idea that when step into the weight room you should be primed both psychologically and physiologically to cause some serious damage.
This is achieved firstly and most obviously by providing an ample dose of caffeine; this is worth mentioning right away because not everyone is a fan of caffeine-containing supplements if they prefer to drink coffee.
Even so, the caffeine content makes it very convenient for you to get a large dose equivalent to around 2 or 3 strong cups of coffee.
Creatine is well known for its role in ATP production and energy transfer within the cells of the body, helping to produce explosive anaerobic strength while also transporting water into the muscle cells to keep maximize cell volumization.
Kill It goes a step further by including three different types of creatine for enhanced absorption.
Furthermore, Citrulline Malate is included as a precursor to Nitric Oxide or NO, famous for its pump-enhancing properties; if you’re not a fan of skin-splitting pumps and obscene vascularity then this isn’t for you!
Another great inclusion in Kill It is Beta Alanine. This amino acid acts as a lactic acid buffer, which essentially means that you’ll be able to perform set after set and rep after rep with far less acidity in the muscle cells.
This translates into greater endurance and a boost to your overall work capacity in each individual session.
Are there Any Precautions?
Because of its stimulatory effects, Kill It should be used with caution if you are sensitive to caffeine or other stimulants.
Kill It should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women, nor should it be used by individuals under the age of 18.
Consult your doctor or physician prior to using Kill It if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or if you are currently using prescription medication.
Consult your doctor before using this product if you have a family history of high blood pressure, heart, liver, thyroid or psychiatric disease, diabetes, anemia, nervousness, anxiety, depression, seizure disorder, stroke or difficulty in urination due to prostate enlargement.
Do not use this product if you are taking an MAO or MAOI inhibitor.
Please note that these statements have been neither written nor reviewed by a doctor or medical authority of any kind.
Available Flavors and Serving Sizes
Rich Piana’s 5% Nutrition Kill It is available in the following flavors:
- Blue Raspberry
- Fruit Punch
- Lemon Lime
- Mango Pineapple
Furthermore, this product is available in a single serving size providing 30 servings.
Can I Still Drink Coffee With My Pre-Workout Meal?
This is going to be largely dependent on your existing caffeine consumption through the day and your personal tolerance levels.
Your best bet would probably be to leave out your pre-workout coffee while assessing your tolerance to Kill It because this will make for a more accurate assessment. This will net you around 125g of caffeine if you are using a half serving as recommended.
From here you can either add your cup of coffee back in or move up to a full serving of Kill It; whichever you decide to do first is up to you and shouldn’t make a big difference in the long term.
It is also a good idea to occasionally take a break from caffeine and other supplements, leaving a week or two for your tolerance levels to come back.
This will help to enhance the long-term efficacy of supplements like Kill It while also giving your adrenal glands a much-needed rest.
I’m Concerned About the Sodium Content
If you are training as hard as you should be then you’ll undoubtedly be sweating a lot, causing you to lose a lot of sodium and other minerals through your skin.
You should also be drinking plenty of water as this will help to balance out your body’s sodium levels.
Providing both of these are true, there should be absolutely no need to worry about the sodium content of this product if you are an otherwise healthy adult.
Do I Need to Use a Pre-Workout Supplement?
Do you need to use one? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t see enhanced performance and overall results by incorporating one.
The manufacturer of this product is called 5% Nutrition for a reason, and even if it adds only 5% to your performance and recovery, this could definitely be considered money well spent if it means an extra few pounds of muscle added by the end of the year!
Rich Piana’s 5% Nutrition Kill It a well thought out pre-workout supplement which definitely beats a lot of the competition, so value for money isn’t in question.
This product is available in four fruity flavors that should suit most tastes, and each package should provide you with at least a one month’s supply (and that’s if you train every single day).
The market for pre-workout supplements can be pretty hit and miss in terms of quality and value for money but Rich Piana’s 5% Nutrition Kill It is definitely a hit that you’ll want to check out if you’re on the lookout for an effective formula.
